Industry and nature don’t have to stand on opposite sides. Our Hubina quarry proves it: alongside heavy machinery and daily operations, you can hear the soft buzzing of thousands of bees. We have established our own beehives here, producing our unique and delicious product – DANUMED.
Bees are extremely sensitive indicators of environmental quality. When they thrive, it means the ecosystem is healthy, stable, and biodiversity has room to grow. This is exactly what we strive for at Danucem: ensuring that our plants and quarries are not a burden on nature, but places where it can flourish.
As part of the ZERO initiative, they proposed using the quarry space to support biodiversity while creating a product that symbolizes our sustainable philosophy. We therefore purchased our own beehives and placed them directly in Hubina. Today, around 55,000 bees live here, taking care of our “company treasure.”
Under ideal conditions, our beehives can produce up to 150 kilograms of honey per year. Danumed is not only a sweet result of their work, but also a tangible proof that industrial environments can coexist harmoniously with nature.
Hubina quarry has become a place where technology meets ecology. Machines work on extraction, bees work on honey — together creating a story that shows sustainability can be a natural part of even the most demanding operations.
