In Slovakia we sort only around 39% of waste, which is alarmingly little in comparison with the true sorting potential. Every piece of waste that does not end up in the landfill gets a second chance in the form of a new product, while we conserve natural resources such as wood, sand, limestone, oil or metals.
The low level of waste separation is not just a question of ignorance – it often concerns negligence or comfort. Meanwhile, there’s nothing complicated about sorting, it just requires a responsible approach from us all. If we want to reduce the amount of waste and support a circular economy, we have to start with ourselves – at home, at work, in our communities.
In Danucem, we believe that change is possible once enlightenment, infrastructure and willingness to do something converge. Sorting waste is not just some ecologically minded act – it is an investment in the future, which we form together.
